Thunderstorm Forest (Thunderstorm, TSF) is an Electric and Bug type dungeon that introduces players to paralysis. It is southeast of Exbel—found east of Pebble Cave and requires Cut and Rock Smash. There are a total of 20 floors in this dungeon with Pokémon specific to the player's ID appearing after a certain floor.
When you first approach the dungeon, an argument breaks out between a Manectric and Luxray coming from the entrance. The players hides behind a nearby tree and overhears their quarrel about which of their respective clans the territory is of ownership to. A wild Emolga was also hidden nearby, and explains the situation going on with the two clans and the dungeon to the player.
- (You hear a fight going on near the forest ahead..)
- (The fighting is getting closer! You decided to hide behind a nearby tree.)
- Ocko Scout: What are you still doing here? This part of the forest belongs to the Ocko Clan!
- Zau Scout: I should be asking you the same question... the Zau clan has laid claim to this place!
- (The two of them trade blows for a while longer. Neither one seems ready to back down.)
- (Suddenly, a loud thunderous noise echoes through the clearing. The Manectric looks towards the forest.)
- Ocko Scout: My clan needs me. I won't forget this, Zau.
- Zau Scout: Hmph, my coward. But I think I should return to my clan, too...
- Emolga: Phew, good thing they didn't notice us... even though you look strong enough to fight the likes of them.
- Emolga: Let me explain what's going on here. Long ago this forest used to be at peace, ruled by our founding monarch.
- Emolga: Everybody worked hard to make our leader proud. We all got along with each other, and times were great.
- Emolga: But nothing lasts forever. One day our monarch left us, entrusting the care of this forest to its inhabitants.
- Emolga: Ever since then, two rival clans - the Ocko clan of Manectric and the Zau clan of Luxray - have both believed they were the worthy successor to the monarch.
- Emolga: The leaders of each clan used to be friends, but in our monarch's absence their stubborn rivalry has consumed them.
- Emolga: So much unneeded pain has been caused by the ensuing fights. We all live on edge now, spooked by the slightest jolt of surprise.
- Emolga: I fear for the safety of everybody living here. Please, help us... try to make the leaders of these clans see reason.
- Emolga: Lastly, Do be careful in there! The fighting between the two clans has gone on for so long that most Pokémon will attack you on sight!
- Emolga: Trust me, it's not easy living in a place where fights break out every day, Good luck, explorer!

Ocko Clan Camp
When beating all the floors you'll find yourself in the Ocko Clan Camp. The leader explains to you the conflict between them and the Zao clan.
- ???: It's not right Elder. We can't live in fear forever - someone has to stand and fight against the Zau!
- Elder: I implore you not to go Capulekt, you have seen how brutal Voltague can be. It's not safe.
- Capulekt: I'm sorry Elder, but as the new leader of the Ocko, it falls upon me to protect the rest of you.
- Capulekt: Take good care of the clan, Father.
- Elder: Wait!
- Elder: Huh is that...
- Elder: Oh, an explorer team... Thank goodness you've shown up! I didn't think anyone would help, what with this conflict going on.
- Elder: Please can you help me? I don't know what to do about my daughter, the new chief of this clan. She's in real danger out there on her own! I could use some assistance.
- Elder: You have permission to enter our camp and gather your bearings here if you wish.
- Elder: I will go ahead to scout things out. I'll meet you again deeper in the forest, explorer. Please take care of yourself out there!
There's a Kangaskhan Storage and moving on from this room will take you to the first floor in Far Thunderstorm Forest.

Dungeon Objective
It leads to Far Thunderstorm Forest, which houses a couple of exclusive Pokémon. Plusle and Minun are only recruitable in Thunderstorm Forest for players that want them, along with Morpeko and Grubbin, exclusive recruits to this dungeon and its continuation.
Trivia
Original Secret Room of the Thunderstorm dungeons
- Thunderstorm Forest as well as Far Thunderstorm Forest previously had a Secret Room. It was removed from both dungeons, but Far Thunderstorm Forest has a completely new Secret Room added in its revamp.
- Mareep and Pichu were originally in Thunderstorm Forest, but were removed. Shinx was removed in the 2015 revamp, but was added back due to story purpose.
- During the original making of this dungeon, there was a bug that prevented players from going to their spawn point when giving up making it possible to faint more than once within a second.
- Thunderstorm Forest was once renamed to Thunderwave Woods, but was changed back to Thunderstorm Forest later on.
- Thunderstorm Forest was revamped in 2015, it used to have 10 floors.
- Thunderstorm Forest received another revamp by Kirk (dungeon) and Seedlings (story) on February 25th of 2022, giving it 5 extra floor and a higher level range.
- Thunderstorm Forest had a Kecleon Shop before its 2022 revamp.
