Tanren Undercity, referred to by players as undercity or sometimes TU, is a city settled under the Tanren region with its own dungeons and currency called Ekop. Its entrance is located at Tanren's Archaeological Digsite, in the museum of Tanren City. To access the main entrance of Tanren Undercity, Rock Smash and Rock Climb are required. If Undercity Catacombs has been completed, players can take a shortcut to Tanren Undercity in cognito.
- ???: Hey... What are you doing here?
- ???: Hey. The name's Grovyle.
- Grovyle: Man oh man, you made a bad mistake waltzing up into here.
- Grovyle: Look, c'mon. Let's go to my house before anyone sees us. Not exactly the best place to be hanging around at.
- Grovyle: My house is just around the corner. First left. Can't miss it.
- Grovyle: If you come here, I can pretty much tell you all about this place. What it was like, what happened, why it's not a good place anymore, all that.
- Grovyle: That is... only if you're interested. I'll see you, around then, kid.
- Grovyle: ... Oh yeah. I didn't catch your name.
- [Player Name]: ...
- Grovyle: Hm. [Player Name], was it? Well then. Nice to meet you.
- Grovyle: Welcome to the Tanren Undercity, [Player Name].

Mansion[]
There is a mansion located north in the Central Fork. Trying to enter any of the curtains here gives the message "Perhaps you shouldn't enter this room...". Going to the wall in the middle gives the message "The structuring of this wall seems quite fragile.. Perhaps if you had the right move, it could be broken.". Using the move Rock Smash on the wall will open the entrance to the Abandoned Laboratory.

Abandoned Laboratory[]
The Abandoned Laboratory is accessed from the Tanren Undercity Mansion. This room's only purpose is to change the form of Rotom. At the top of the laboratory are the five appliances in the order of fan, oven, fridge, lawn mower, and washing machine. The TV on the table with the refrigerator gives the message "These machines look cryptic. If you have a specific pokemon, maybe you could use them."
Northern Settlement[]
The northern settlement is northeast from the Central Fork, and commonly thought as the main area in Tanren Undercity. Here you have access to an Assembly, Kangaskhan Storage, and a healing point, being Toren's House.
There is also a Purple Kecleon here who runs a shop, notable for being the only shop in Tanren Undercity that uses Poké as all other shops in Tanren Undercity use Ekop, excluding the services in the gang bases.

Grovyle's House[]
- Grovyle: Oh great, you came! Guess that means you want to learn more about the Undercity, eh?
- Grovyle: Well sure thing. One second, let me turn on the lights...
- *click* - A switch was flicked.
- Grovyle: Ahh. That's better, nice and bright.
- Grovyle: Come have a seat, [Player Name]. Make yourself at home.
- But first, before I start... let me ask: do you know of a Pokémon that goes by the name of Arceus?
- Yes
- No
- Grovyle: Well, Arceus is a mythical Pokémon. As of this point in time, it's been deemed as the "ruler" of all Pokémon, if that sits right.
- Grovyle: ...You're all caught up then.
- Grovyle: Down here in the Undercity, the Pokémon here have a built... a settlement, if you will.
- Grovyle: It was constructed mainly to get away with the troubles of the outside world. A getaway. I have to set that it was a good idea, and heck, I enjoy it here.
- Grovyle: Or at least I used to... up until the outbreak happened.
- Grovyle: You see, [Player Name], Arceus, even though it never appeared to us, was the one thing keeping the Undercity tranquil and organized. It was the God we all worshiped down here.
- Grovyle: Time and time, though, the one we called God failed to answer our pleas. We have been calling for help, trying to get the resources we needed...
- Grovyle: With the stories we've heard, Arceus would have definitely helped us in our time of need. We WORSHIPED this Pokémon. This God...
- Grovyle: But after a while we realized this was no God. This was a phony, and we were not going to worship a phony.
- Grovyle: Now, the Undercity was a nice place once. The idea of Arceus watching over us kept us calm down here, it reassured us.
- Grovyle: Of course, some of us still worship the God. Such as the Pokémon in the Northern Settlement.
- Grovyle: However, the other Pokémon who don't worship Arceus, they decided they wanted to run things down here instead of letting the idea of Arceus run.
- Grovyle: Half of the group wanted to run it in a dictator-like way, while the others thought the people of the town should run it, if that makes sense.
- Grovyle: A huge outbreak broke out then, after weeks of arguing, the two groups have had enough. They formed bases down here, and grew cold.
- Grovyle: Now... they call themselves the Night Talons and the Desert Fangs.
- Grovyle: Though they may seem to worship the God, they don't - they just pretend to in order to not stand out of the crowd.
- Grovyle: These two gangs have been fighting for as long as I could remember, in hopes of one day controlling the Undercity.
- Grovyle: They also so happen to terrorize the townsfolk. They rob, hurt, kidnap, and perform many other crimes against the poor Pokémon here - the ones that worship Arceus still.
- Grovyle: Why? Because, if you haven't caught it already, they hate anyone who worships Arceus. That is why this town is so bad and dangerous. These gangs will stop at nothing to gain control.
- Grovyle: Not much can be done to stop them, either. Which is why it is best to be careful, do what you have to do here, and keep your life moving without sticking your nose in business.
- Grovyle: Trust me. You won't like what happens if you do that.
- Grovyle: Well, that's all I have to share. I hope you got all of that.
- Do you need me to repeat all of that?
- Yes ↺Repeats dialogue
- No
- Grovyle: Right, well, I better head out. I have stuff to do here and I don't have much time to waste, either.
- Grovyle: It was nice being able to chat with you, [Player Name]. I hope we get to meet again.
- Grovyle: Good luck out there.
