- For the paths you can take, see Spectral Thicket/Ghost Route, Spectral Thicket/Dark Route, and Spectral Thicket/Psychic Route.
Spectral Thicket (Spectral, SpTh) is a dungeon found southwest of Frigid Heights. The dungeon consists of mostly Dark-, Ghost-, and Bug-types. It has three routes available to be taken at its midpoint after Floor 20; Ghost, Dark, or Psychic, which require a Pokémon of the corresponding type on the team.
After going through the first part of one of the aforementioned route, Spectral Thicket's main path can be chosen at the second midpoint—after Floor 40. It requires a party of two to three players to press switches and open the entrance to the path. You may also use the key found in the end room to unlock the path if you have beaten Spectral Thicket before.
- Gengar: So once I approach them from the back, we'll all strike at once...
- Oranguru: Yes... As for the paths we'll take... It shall depend on our surroundings inside the thicket.
- Incineroar: I think we've got everything straight now, my trusty teammates. Let's uncover the secrets of this place for once and for all!
- Incineroar: ...Huh?
- Incineroar: Grrrr... Who are you?!
- [Player Name]: ...
- Incineroar: Not very talkative? Hah! I'll just introduce myself then! We're Incineroar, Oranguru and Gengar! Together, we form Team Tactful Tension.
- Incineroar: With my fiery fighting spirit, Oranguru's skillful decision making and Gengar's ability to cunningly deceive opponents.. We're a true force to be reckoned with! ROARRR!
- Oranguru: We've arrived in this area not too long ago. We're a very strong rescue team, on a mission to uncover the secrets of this largely unexplored part of winden.
- Gengar: We're already Master rank! What do you say to that, huh?! Kekeke!
- Oranguru: There's rumors of a Mythical Pokemon controlling this forest and its inhabitators, and we're looking to find out what's going on.
- Incineroar: Grrrr...
- Incineroar: You best not meddle with our mission here! You've got potential, but it's blatantly obvious that you won't be able to last for long here.
- Gengar: Kekeke! Chill out, El Tigre! I'm sure our little explorer friend over here would wisely follow our advice...
- Gengar: Now, let's get on with it! Team Tactful Tension doesn't have the word "slacking" in it's dictionary! Heh!
- Oranguru: Shields up...!
- Gengar: See you on the flipside!
Attributes
There is darkness throughout the dungeon. Darkness increases on Floor 41 and Floor 56.
A fork is reached after Floor 20. This is where the player must pick between the Ghost, Dark, or Psychic Spectral Thicket routes and continue through them, starting on Floor 21 of the chosen path. A Pokémon of one of the respective types is required to pick one, otherwise you cannot continue and must escape using the warp.
Floor 40 leads to another fork, wherein the available routes to be chosen and the restrictions are the same, but an entrance to continue on the regular Spectral Thicket route is accessible. One switch is located on the pathways to the type-restricted routes, which removes the respective blocks to the main route entrance. Due to this, two or three players are needed to hit all three switches in time and get to the main path entrance. Alternatively, if you have a
Spectral Key and have beaten Spectral Thicket's main path already, the locked door in the bottom-right can be opened to continue the main path instead.

- Incineroar: You! The Marshwalker owns these lands! You're treading on sacred soil!
- Oranguru: Halt right there and say your biddings, or you'll become one with Spectral Thicket!
- Gengar: keke... Kekeke... KEKEKEKEKEKE!
- Gengar: The Marshwalker shall take control of Winden first, and then over the entire universe!
- [Player Name]: (Oh no! Surely not you guys too...?!)
- Gengar: But first, YOU have to go down! You're standing in our way! Crush them, team!
- Incineroar:...
- Incineroar: HUH?! What happened?!
- Incineroar: Ah, it's you! Didn't we tell you not to follow us inside?
- Oranguru: Incineroar...
- Oranguru: I believe... This adventurer may have saved us.
- Oranguru: When we entered this clearing, we were met with a force so powerful...
- Oranguru: ...That even we could not handle it. We were taken by the curse, completely out of our minds!
- Gengar: Bless the Marsh... Marshwalker...
- Incineroar: GENGAR?! SNAP OUT OF IT!
- Gengar: Huh?! R-Right! I was only kidding! Kekeke...!
- Oranguru: Either way... You have our thanks, explorer. We vastly understimated you.
- Incineroar: GAH! We're still way stronger! But we definitely need to recuperate after all this.
- Gengar: Next time we'll meet you... We'll make Pokémon soup out of you, in a fair battle! Kekeke!
- Incineroar: We'll be going back to the rescue base. Until we meet again...
- ???: Fools...

Dialogue:
- ???: Finally... You have arrived.
- ???: I have been waiting for you.
- Marshadow: ...
- Marshadow: You're a being of potential.
- Marshadow: You possess the intelligence of a Psychic type, the spiritual powers of a Ghost type, and the cunning dexterity of a Dark type.
- Marshadow: I have been observing your battle strategy... How you battled through my disciples, conquered your rivals...
- Marshadow: ...You could even say you've taught me something!
- Marshadow: How very unfortunate that I will still have to stop you in your tracks. I have no intention of giving up my dream.
- Marshadow: Which is, to grow Spectral Thicket.. Grow it so much, that it will take over the entirety of the universe!
- Marshadow: And every living being inside of it... will become part of the dream!
- Marshadow: Their energy, slowly dissipating from their bodies, to feed Spectral Thicket with it!
- Marshadow: Think you can stop me?
- Marshadow: ...Are you sure?
- Marshadow: I have limitless power! I can create whatever I wish to! You have zero chance of ever stopping me! Zilch!
- Marshadow: Now... Let's get on with it!
- Marshadow: ........
- Marshadow: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
- Marshadow: This is... blasphemy! This is not how it will end!
- Marshadow: My dream...
- Marshadow: You vilified it!
- Marshadow: ...Huh? What's happening?
- Cofagrigus: Betrayer! You are no deity!
- Chandelure: You've lied to us! You are not invicible! You are nothing but a manipulator!
- Houndoom: He took our spirits, our free will and used it all for his own, selfish purposes!
- Marshadow: ...
- Marshadow: You leave me no choice.
- Marshadow: This is the end. I will take my departure.
- Marshadow: Farewell, explorer...
- (And thus... One final blast was heard.)
