There are many templates in use in P.MysteryUniverse Wiki; this is an overview, representing some of the most important and commonly used ones.

  • Category:Templates should cover all templates in the wiki, categorized into the various subcategories.
  • The Template namespace (found from Special:Allpages) always has all templates in the wiki, sorted alphanumerically.

What are Templates?[]

A template on a wiki is pre-made code or text; a means to insert the same content over and over in pages. Templates are inserted in a page by putting "{{template name}}" somewhere (e.g. {{color}}). This saves editors the hassle of duplicating the same text again and again, and also helps ensure consistency. To go to the page of a template, as well as search for or make one, you must put "Template:" before the name, as that is their namespace.

The user can pass parameters to a template, to alter or add more information. A parameter is defined by text after a horizontal bar (|), after the template name (e.g. {{color|<blue>}}). They can be required for the template to function, or be optional.

Detailed instructions on the usage of a template should exist on a subpage of it named "/doc" with {{documentation}} on the template's page (preferred); or sometimes on the template page itself (inside "noinclude" tags). Although not required, a template can also have TemplateData on its documentation subpage. It helps visual editor users, or can just serve as secondary documentation.

For more information on templates, see w:Help:Templates.

Common Templates[]

This is a list of frequently used or useful templates so editors can get familiar with why and how to use them. More information will always be found on the page of the template itself. Clicking the template name will take you to the template's page, where you can see how it is used.
