Mystery Eggs

Mystery Eggs are items that can be found in certain dungeons and are a form of recruitment. These eggs hatch into unevolved forms of Pokémon at level 1, often of ones encountered in the particular dungeon the egg was in.

Pokémon hatched from eggs will have up to four Egg Moves. The moves are chosen randomly from what it can normally obtain from breeding, but if the player's active Pokémon knows a move that the hatched Pokémon can learn as an Egg Move, it increases the possibility of the Pokémon hatching with that move. Egg Moves can otherwise be obtained through tutoring.

Mystery Eggs cannot be dropped or sold, but can be traded to a Togekiss that resides in the bazaars of Grassroot Town and Tanren City. Togekiss will give a Nifty Box containing a random diamond or type-reducing Berry in return for a Mystery Egg.

Hatching[]

Eggs must meet the following requirements in order to hatch:

The player must be outside of a dungeon (a map with a Moral other than None).
The player must have an open slot in their team.
The player must take a certain amount of steps. The steps required vary on the egg and dungeon.

Once an egg has been hatched, the player has the choice of accepting it to their team. Mystery Eggs have a chance to hatch a shiny Pokémon.

Using Pokémon with the Abilities Flame Body or Magma Armor will halve the steps required to hatch an egg. While taking the steps you must have the Pokémon with either of the aforementioned Abilities as your active Pokémon in order for the effect to trigger. Having an Oval Charm held by any Pokémon on your team will reduce the steps required to hatch an egg by four times, which can also stack with the effect of one of the aforementioned Abilities.

If the player has multiple eggs in their inventory, the steps taken will only be counted for the first egg in the inventory. So in order to hatch multiple eggs, the player will have to go through the steps required to hatch each egg one by one.

When an egg reaches its next hatching stage, a sound will play and its sprite and description will change to indicate progress.

Alternatively, eggs can be hatched at Joy, a service NPC in all regions' towns for a fee. To use her service, you must have 1,000 Poké per egg in your bag. Using Joy's service will incubate the eggs enough such that the player will require a few more steps to hatch them.

Miracle Egg[]

The Miarcle Egg was a kind of Mystery Egg available once, for a limited timeframe during 2024 Easter Holiday Cave. It contained a guaranteed shiny Pokémon as a compensation for an issue regarding Generation 8 Pokémon.
