Holiday Caves (HC) are a type of limited event dungeon that open to commemorate an occasion — mainly holidays, given the name. The entrance to Holiday Caves are found at Holiday Hills in Exbel.
Modern Holiday Caves last two weeks, reset your level and prevent items from being taken in. They most often have an associated currency which can be used to buy items until the next Holiday Cave, alongside other special rewards specific to that instance of the Holiday Cave. In addition, unreleased Pokémon are often first obtainable in Holiday Caves.
Past Holiday Caves
Listed below is a recorded history of past Holiday Caves.
Valentines
Tunnel of Love
March 1st - March 21st[1]
Tunnel of Love was the dungeon in Doki Town, the Valentines Holiday Cave in 2019. Its currency was the Love Rose. It introduced the Heart Key, letting players obtain Jangmo'o.
- Floors: 50
- Boss: Shaymin
Easter
A Holiday Cave centered around hatching eggs.
Starting from 2019, it generally has the following attributes:
60 floors with no boss. Pokémon obtainable from the eggs change every 10 floors.
It has midpoints after Floors 20 and 40 that allow the player to heal and hatch eggs three times faster. These midpoints also contained a shop. In 2019 it was was a Buneary named Easter Bunny Merchant, who had no items to sell as its purpose for selling unwanted items. Later on, the merchant was changed to Croagunk who did sell items.
On floors 25, 35, 45 and 55 the player enters a room full of Kecleon who accuse the player of being an thief and attack. Upon defeating them, Green Kecleon drops 1 currency. Purple Kecleon (for 2019, exclusive to Floor 25) drops 25 currency or a rare Power Glove.
End room contains some of the currency, four Easter Chests, and an egg containing base evolution of the Pokémon that entered the room. If the player enters the room in a party, the number of players in the party are the total egg spawn. The Partner egg at the end could have a chance at being a dud and not hatching a partner Pokémon.
The dungeon also has a Secret Room with Easter Treats. If the player found Honey, they could summon Shaymin and have a chance at getting its Heart Slate.
The currency for Eastern Highlands was Easter Treat during 2019 and has been Truffle since 2020.
2011
April 22nd - May 8th
To get event Pokémon from it, you had to hatch an egg that was found in the dungeon. You were able to trade your eggs for Rare Berries. To trade them, go to the entrance of HC and talk to Togekiss. She will ask if you want to trade your eggs for items. The berries were held in Nifty Boxes. This Holiday Cave dungeon was made mostly by Kirk. To hatch eggs, players had to run around in a safe zone. So for most of the event people, ran around in circles in town. While this event was going on, Quick Seeds were banned from the town. Sprinko announced that he would make a 99-floor dungeon if 99 people were on. (closest was 94)

Halloween
2011
October 26th - November 13th
Released to celebrate the upcoming Halloween for everyone. As for all Holiday Caves, it was a set level dungeon with no items. The amount of Pokémon you could bring was unrestricted. After Phantom Forest, there was a break that you could see everyone on a map called "Pokehallow Square". It included a Cubone that healed your Pokémon and a choice of which dungeon you wanted.
There was a fourth dungeon that was added called Hallowed Well. It was a 99-floor dungeon with no Pokémon that were able to be recruited, but rare items were in it. The prize of the dungeon was a Max Revive. During the floors 60-85, the darkness was pitch black, meaning that Pokémon and items were unable to be seen. Also, during that time, Darkrai was released in town as an illusion for a couple of days.

Trivia
- Holiday Caves were "discontinued" in 2014, however Holiday Caves would come back and continue to be made in the future despite this.
- Seedot erroneously had a Nidoran portrait in 2010's Thanksgiving Holiday Cave.
- During Easter 2012, mission escorts could be brought into the dungeon. That caused the mission board to be disabled for most of the dungeon.
- The Togekiss NPC from the 2011 Easter Holiday Cave became a permanent addition at some point.
