Tips from players is a community page editable by anyone. It serves as both an area for anyone to write down tips but also as a source of tips. Tips can come in all shapes and forms, from the arena to minigames.
The only criteria being that the tip must be helpful and related to PMU.
Tips[]
General[]
- The in-game minimap is toggled with .
- You can organize your inventory by clicking and dragging items.
- Store money between each dungeon run. All money in your possession will be lost upon fainting in a dungeon.
- Do missions as soon as possible to increase your storage and bag space.
- At the mission board, you could turn delivery and escort missions into normal rescue missions by closing the game then opening it back up without taking the mission off of the board.
- Before saving or expanding your house, make sure to pick up all items on the ground. Once saved, any existing items will be deleted.
- The shift key could be changed to the Caps Lock or Num Lock keys to have a pseudo toggleable run key.
- Defiant will also activate on moves that cause the user to lower their own stats.
Dungeons[]
- Make your leader a Pokémon you won't use in battle. If the leader faints and you have no revives, you will be forced to give up, causing item loss.
- Always have an Escape Orb and later on, an Escape Rope.
- For an efficient escape, have invincibility frames when using an Escape Orb. Switching Pokémon or using a reviving item after a team member faints provides invincibility frames, allowing you to safely escape.
- Avoid getting surrounded at all costs, especially if nearby Pokémon know moves that give negative statuses. If you do, you can get locked in hit stun and potentially be unable to do anything until the enemies defeat you or you're able to attack back.
- If you relog, wind will start even if you don't move.
- You can party with other members in dungeons that disband parties through guilds.
- Traveling on a type-oriented tile such as water and then switching to a Pokémon that cannot walk on that tile will cause the Pokémon to warp when it makes an action.
- Before entering Tanren Chambers, create a party even if you're only going in by yourself. This will help you keep track of whether or not you picked up a key on X floor, since the chat will announce both when you picked up a key and when you enter a floor.
- Try to have an AoE or Slumber Orb for Monster Houses and general enemy packs.
Items[]
- The Beginner Band gives a +5% experience boost and +5 to all the team member's stats.
- Get TM Rest as soon as possible for status ailments and restoring HP. Winden Pass is the earliest you can obtain it in a dungeon. You can also buy one for 5,000 Poké at Grassroot Town's Kecleon Shop or 3,500 Poké at Snowbasin Town's Kecleon Shop.
- Trapped Scarf is a team item that prevents Ghost-types from walking on walls and other special tiles.
- Sticky items and most Grimy Food and Berries can be restored at Lickilicky's stall.
- The move Recycle restores Grimy items without needing a Recycle Orb.
- Mystery Eggs need an open team slot to hatch.
- The sprite of Mystery Eggs change depending on how close they are to hatching.
- Steps are only counted towards the first Mystery Egg in your inventory. You can move eggs without any steps in front of eggs ready to hatch already. This is mainly useful when having multiple eggs when you can't hatch them, like being inside of a dungeon.
- Using a Pokémon with some sort of movement speed boost (e.g. the Ability Speed Boost or Crystals) can quicken the rate of Mystery Eggs hatching due to being able to make steps faster.
- In a pinch, you can eat seeds and berries to slightly refill your belly.
- Type-specific power-boosting items, such as Charcoal, give increased damage for a specific type's moves for the whole team.
- Shards are a common hidden item that can be used to get new moves at a tutor or as currency at Meesa's shop in Archford.
- Pokémon do not gain experience at level 100, and therefore cannot be used for Exp. All training. Doom Seeds can be used to counter this by lowering the level.
- There are reusable held items and seeds which inflict certain status conditions. Useful for Abilities such as Guts, Quick Feet, and Flare Boost.
Useful Pokémon[]
- Bibarel can learn most HMs making it a good candidate as an HM user. It can be found in the Exbel overworld or Happiness Lake.
- Swablu is found earliest in Mt. Skylift, learning Safeguard and Refresh.
- Ledyba as it learns Reflect, Light Screen and Safeguard at early levels (might require Electivire's shop depending on where you recruit it). Reflect and Light Screen reduce the damage your team takes, while Safeguard protects your team from status conditions. It also can learn Flash via TM to illuminate dark floors.
- Yanma has both Speed Boost and Frisk, making it a really good in not only going through dungeons, but also hunt for any hidden items that may be of use.
- Ghost-types can continue to travel through walls in dungeons if they have an HP recovering move to heal off lost HP from an empty belly.
